Kathy Rose's work includes installation consisting of haunting "video puppets" and "puppet paintings" in which she combines sculptural figures, veils, and video projections.

Derived from Rose’s videos, the pieces are inspired by Japanese screens in their use of projections moving across multiple veils, becoming  dimensionally magical; exquisite mini spectacles of illusion.

Each piece (or all running consecutively) uses one projector and a veil structure approximately 3' x 4'.

"I create the figures in these videos by engaging in a kind of digital puppetry often videotaping other faces, my body in movement, and combining the two into a hybrid art persona.
Much of my video shooting has been done in miniature.
My intent is to create puppet-like figures giving the work an authenticity that surpasses the merely digital.
